About the Exam
The educator in New York State possesses the necessary professional and pedagogical skills to effectively teach all students in public schools.
This examination is composed of both selected-response and constructed-response items. Each constructed-response item is paired with several selected-response items around a common scenario-based stimulus. The scoring of the test allocates 70% to the selected-response items and 30% to the constructed-response items, as detailed in the accompanying table. All selected-response items contribute equally to the total test score, and the contribution of each constructed-response item to the total score is specified in the table.
The total allotted time for the test is 135 minutes, allowing candidates to manage their time as they see fit.
